Naming Your Dog
Choosing a name for your dog is part of the fun of having a pet. It is a chance for you to make that dog you just bought or adopted your own. However, you have to ask yourself, what really is the importance of choosing the perfect name for your dog? You can not just call him the first thing that pops into your head. The name you are going to give your dog will be part of his identity. It is something that h e will have to live with. So why not give it the importance it deserves? For one, give a name that is appropriate. As much as some names may be funny and cute to you, it may not be the same for everyone else. Give him a name that you will have no problem introducing min public. The name you choose should reflect the character of your dog. Don’t call him Grumpy or some thing like that just because he doesn’t want to smile all the time. You may just make it his permanent state.
Some people prefer using other people’s names for their dogs. Be careful not to offend the person whose name you are using. It is polite to ask first. Another thing to consider is the length of the name. Some names can be quite a mouthful and boring to call out. Stick to something short and catchy. Something your dog will have no trouble responding to. Try and avoid choosing a name that is too common, lest our dog gets confused when a different dog is called by his name. Avoid giving your dog a name based on his physical characteristics, you do not want your dog to have body image issues. It is always important that when you name your dog, give it a trial run. Teach your dog to respond to his name and then you can start enjoying your time together.
